Discover why trying harder isn't always the answer and how understanding what's getting in the way may lead to lasting health.
For a long time, I thought the answer was simple.
If I wanted better health, I just needed to try harder.
Be more disciplined. Be more consistent. Have more willpower.
Maybe you've felt that way too.
Many people assume that if they're not getting the results they want, the answer is simply to push themselves a little more.
Start another diet. Buy another supplement. Follow another protocol.
Promise themselves that this time will be different.
But after more than two decades working in healthcare- and through my own healing journey- I've come to believe something very different.
Most people aren't failing because they aren't trying.
Most people are already trying incredibly hard.
They're reading books. Listening to podcasts. Researching symptoms. Buying supplements. Trying different diets. Following practitioners. Saving healthy recipes. Watching webinars. Looking for answers.
(If this sounds familiar, you may also enjoy The Gap Between Knowing & Doing: Why Health Changes Don't Stick, where I explore why information alone often isn't enough.)
That doesn't sound like someone who doesn't care.
It sounds like someone who genuinely wants to feel better.
And yet many still feel stuck.
Not because they're lazy. Not because they lack discipline.
And not because they don't want healing badly enough.
One of the biggest shifts in my thinking has been realizing that effort and alignment are not the same thing.
Someone can be working incredibly hard- while unknowingly working against themselves at the very same time.
Not intentionally.
Simply because they haven't yet discovered what their body actually needs.
Or because their daily actions no longer match the life they're trying to create.
Trying harder doesn't always help if we're moving in a direction that isn't truly aligned.
Sometimes a small shift in direction creates more momentum than months of simply pushing harder.
One of the things that fascinates me about health is that our choices aren't driven by information alone.
They're influenced by our routines.
Our environment. Our stress. Our relationships. Long-standing habits. Old emotional wounds. The stories we've carried for years.
And the identity we've built around who we are.
Most of this happens quietly. Without us even realizing it.
Because our actions naturally tend to follow the person we believe ourselves to be.
If someone has spent years believing:
"I'm terrible at sticking with things."
"I always end up back where I started."
"I've tried everything."
Those beliefs can quietly influence hundreds of small decisions over time.
Not because the person lacks willpower. But because lasting change is about much more than information.
When I think about lasting health, I don't think about perfection.
I think about alignment.
Alignment between:
When those pieces begin moving in the same direction, health often feels less like a constant battle.
That doesn't mean it suddenly becomes easy.
It means our effort finally has somewhere meaningful to go.
One person's biggest challenge may be chronic stress.
Someone else may be carrying years of exhaustion.
Another person may be trying to change everything all at once.
Someone else may be repeating patterns they've never stopped to question.
The goal isn't to find one explanation that applies to everyone.
The goal is understanding what may be creating resistance in your life.
Because once we understand that, our energy can shift from constantly pushing harder - to creating greater alignment.
I've never met someone who healed because they became better at criticizing themselves.
But I have seen incredible change happen when people began understanding themselves more deeply.
When they stopped assuming they were broken.
When they became curious about their patterns.
When they learned to listen to what their body was communicating.
When they started making choices that reflected not only where they had been- but also where they wanted to go.
If you've been feeling frustrated because you've been doing "all the right things" and still aren't where you hoped you'd be...
I hope this gives you a different perspective.
Maybe your body isn't asking for more effort.
Maybe it's asking for greater alignment.
Alignment between your actions. Your beliefs. Your identity. Your values. Your vision for your future.
Because when those things begin working together- healthy choices often stop feeling like something you have to force.
They begin feeling like a natural expression of the person you're becoming.
Consistency is influenced by much more than motivation. Stress, daily routines, environment, beliefs, identity, competing priorities, and alignment can all affect our ability to follow through.
More effort isn't always the missing piece. Sometimes lasting change comes from understanding what's creating resistance and bringing your actions into greater alignment with your goals and values.
Health alignment means creating greater consistency between what you want for your health, what you believe is possible, what your body may need, and the choices you make each day.
Yes. The way we see ourselves often influences the decisions we make. As our identity evolves, our habits often begin to evolve alongside it.
No. In my experience, lasting health is built through awareness, understanding, alignment, and consistent choices—not perfection.

That's exactly why I created my free masterclass:
Inside, I share the patterns I've noticed over the years that often keep people feeling stuck- even when they're genuinely trying.
Not because they need more information.
But because lasting health is about more than knowing what to do.
It's about bringing your actions, your beliefs, your identity, and your daily life into greater alignment with the future you're trying to create.
Because sometimes the next breakthrough isn't trying harder.
