Discover how nature's rhythms can inspire a slower, more aligned approach to healing, rebuilding, and creating a life where you can finally exhale.
Last week, I stood on the beach in Cape Cod watching the full Strawberry Moon over the ocean.
The tide rolled in and out without urgency.
The moon climbed slowly into the sky.
No rushing. No forcing.
No worrying about whether it was "behind."
As I stood there, I found myself thinking about healing.
Because if I'm honest, so much of the past few years has felt like rebuilding.
Rebuilding my health. Rebuilding my life. Rebuilding my business. Rebuilding my confidence. Rebuilding my understanding of what truly matters.
And somewhere along the way, I realized healing has become about so much more than symptoms.
When many of us begin a health journey, we naturally focus on what we want to change.
The symptoms. The diagnosis. The lab results. The pain. The fatigue. The inflammation.
Those things matter. Of course they do.
But over time, I've realized healing isn't only about changing what we eat or which supplements we take.
It's also about changing how we live.
How we spend our time.
How we relate to ourselves.
How much pressure we carry.
How often we allow ourselves to rest.
How safe our nervous system feels.
How much joy we've allowed back into our lives.
Because what if healing isn't simply reducing symptoms?
What if it's creating a life where we can finally exhale?
Standing on that beach, I couldn't help noticing something.
Nature never rushes.
The tide doesn't hurry. The moon doesn't force itself across the sky. The seasons don't compete with one another.
Everything unfolds in its own time.
And yet somehow, we often believe our healing should happen differently.
We expect ourselves to heal faster.
Know more. Figure everything out. Be further along than we are.
We compare our timelines to someone else's highlight reel.
We quietly wonder if we're falling behind.
I've done that too.
More times than I'd like to admit.
One of the hardest parts of rebuilding is that, from the outside, it can look like nothing is happening.
You're making small decisions. Having difficult conversations. Creating healthier boundaries. Learning to trust yourself again. Choosing rest when you would have once chosen exhaustion.
No one applauds those moments.
There aren't dramatic before-and-after photos.
No finish line.
And yet those quiet decisions may be some of the most important work we ever do.
Because they're changing something much deeper than our symptoms.
They're changing the way we live.
I think one of the greatest gifts nature offers us is perspective.
It reminds us that meaningful growth usually happens gradually.
Almost imperceptibly.
One sunrise at a time. One season at a time. One choice at a time.
Healing often works the same way.
We rarely notice it while we're living it.
Then one day we realize we're responding differently. Thinking differently. Living differently.
Becoming someone different.
Not because one thing changed everything.
But because hundreds of small moments quietly accumulated into something beautiful.
If you've found yourself thinking: "I should be further along by now."
I want to gently offer another possibility.
What if you're not behind?
What if you're simply in the middle of becoming?
What if this season of rebuilding is preparing you for something you can't fully see yet?
What if your body isn't asking you to hurry- but to listen?
To trust. To stay curious.
To keep showing up.
Healing often becomes easier when we stop trying to force change and start understanding what our body has been communicating all along.
One of the greatest lessons nature keeps teaching me is that life isn't lived at the finish line.
It's lived in the ordinary moments.
The morning walk. The conversation with someone you love. The deep breath. The nourishing meal. The laugh that catches you by surprise.
The sunset. The moonrise.
Healing happens there too.
Sometimes the most meaningful transformation isn't that we finally arrive somewhere new.
Sometimes it's that we slowly become someone who experiences life differently.
And maybe that's been the real healing all along.
Healing is not linear. Physical, emotional, and lifestyle changes often happen gradually, and meaningful progress may take time.
Many people find that spending time in nature helps reduce stress, increase presence, and create space for reflection. While everyone's experience is different, nature can be a valuable part of an overall wellness routine.
In my experience, yes. Healing can also involve creating healthier routines, finding greater peace, building resilience, strengthening relationships, and learning to live in greater alignment with your values.
It's easy to compare ourselves to others, especially during a healing journey. Remember that every person's path is unique, and meaningful growth often happens gradually.
Sometimes healing isn't about returning to the person we used to be. It's about intentionally creating a life that better supports the person we're becoming.
Discover why healing often transforms more than symptoms- it can change the way we see ourselves and the future we're creating.
