See how this approach is different, what happens during your first visit, why private-pay care may make sense, and what advanced fellowship training means for your treatment.
Your joints, muscles and movement patterns work together. When something isn't moving or functioning the way it should, other areas can begin compensating — and the place you feel the problem isn't always the only place that needs attention.
We evaluate the area that's bothering you and how the rest of your body is moving and influencing it.
Your evaluation determines how we treat you. Depending on what your body needs, treatment may include highly skilled manual therapy, joint-specific techniques, soft-tissue work and other hands-on care.
Specific neuromuscular retraining and prescribed movement help your body use the changes we create during treatment.
We carry those changes into the movements and activities you actually need — at home, at work, in the gym, in sports and in everyday life.
We treat the area that's bothering you — while looking at the whole picture to understand what your body needs to move and function better.
October Special: $147 • Regularly $250
The value of physical therapy isn't simply having someone show you exercises. It's having a clinician who can evaluate what's happening, determine what your body needs, provide skilled hands-on treatment, prescribe the right movement, and continually reassess how you respond.
I don't use one treatment plan for everyone with back pain, shoulder pain, knee pain or any other diagnosis. Two people can come in with pain in the same place and need very different treatment.
Your history, symptoms, mobility, strength, movement patterns, compensations and response to treatment all give us information. I use those findings to decide what we address, how we address it and what needs to change next.
Hands-on treatment is an important part of how I practice. Your evaluation guides the specific manual techniques I use to address the joints and tissues that need treatment.
The movements I prescribe aren't generic exercises. They're chosen from what I find in your evaluation to address the specific weakness, movement pattern, mobility restriction or compensation your body needs to change.
Every visit gives us new information. I reassess how your body is responding and progress, modify or change your treatment based on what I find rather than simply repeating the same routine each time.
Your treatment is built around what your body actually needs.
Skilled hands-on treatment, neuromuscular retraining and specifically prescribed movement are used together based on what I find — not from a standard protocol for your diagnosis.
Manual therapy isn't one technique. Highly skilled hands-on treatment requires knowing what you're treating, why you're treating it, which technique is appropriate, and how your body responds.
My fellowship training in orthopedic manual physical therapy included advanced assessment and a broad range of hands-on techniques. Depending on what I find, treatment can range from gentle, specific joint mobilization and soft-tissue or myofascial techniques to muscle energy techniques and joint manipulation when appropriate.
The goal isn't to fit your body into a particular technique. The technique, direction, intensity and area we treat are chosen for what your body needs.
Having hands-on treatment before doesn't mean you've experienced the same kind of treatment I provide. The question isn't simply whether you've been adjusted, massaged or had someone work on the painful area. What matters is what was treated, why it was treated, whether the technique matched what your body needed, and how your body responded.
Sometimes a joint needs more mobility. Sometimes the surrounding tissues need attention. Sometimes another area is influencing the problem. Your evaluation tells us where to work and which hands-on approach to use.
When your body has spent time compensating around pain, stiffness, weakness or injury, those movement patterns don't automatically change just because we've improved the mobility of a joint or tissue.
That's where neuromuscular retraining and specifically prescribed movement come in. We create the change with the hands-on work, then teach your body how to use that change when you stand, walk, work, exercise, play a sport or move through everyday life.
The question isn't whether you've had hands-on treatment before.
It's whether you've had the right hands-on treatment for what your body actually needed.
October Special: $147 • 60-Minute Evaluation + Treatment
It's to help your body function better outside of physical therapy.
It's one thing to perform a movement correctly while you're concentrating on it in the clinic. It's another for your body to use that movement naturally when you're walking, working, lifting your child, exercising, running, playing a sport or moving through a busy day.
That's why we don't stop at improving mobility or learning an isolated movement. We progressively connect those changes to the positions, movements and activities that matter in your life.
Move through your workday more comfortably
Lift, carry and keep up with everyday life
Return to the gym, running or the activities you enjoy
Perform at a higher level in sport or training
Overall strength doesn't mean every muscle is doing its job at the right time or that every part of your body is moving efficiently. Strong, athletic people can still compensate around a mobility restriction, lack control in a specific position, or rely on one area to do work another area should be doing.
Treatment doesn't end when you get off the table.
We take the changes we create and teach your body how to use them where it matters most — in your life.
Your one-on-one appointment is dedicated entirely to evaluating and treating you. That gives us the time and flexibility to focus on what your body needs rather than building your visit around a predetermined routine.
For the full session, you're working directly with me — not being passed between a therapist, assistant or aide while the therapist is treating other patients at the same time.
That dedicated time allows me to evaluate, provide skilled hands-on treatment, analyze movement, retrain specific patterns, prescribe movement and reassess your response throughout the visit. You're getting my full attention, clinical reasoning and hands-on care for the entire appointment.
Your full appointment is with me. No assistants or aides, and I'm not dividing my attention between you and other patients.
Our time can be used for the combination of skilled hands-on treatment, movement analysis, neuromuscular retraining and prescribed movement your body needs.
I reassess how your body is responding and adjust what we do as you progress rather than automatically repeating the same treatment each visit.
A smaller copay can look less expensive when you compare it with the cost of a single private appointment. But the more useful comparison is the total amount you spend, the number of appointments you attend, the amount of individual clinician time you receive, and the time the entire process takes out of your life.
These examples simply illustrate how copays can add up over a course of care. The number of physical therapy visits you need depends on your individual condition, goals and response to treatment.
Cost isn't only what you pay at each appointment. It's also the time spent driving, rearranging work or family responsibilities, attending visits and doing the work between them. My goal isn't to keep you in physical therapy indefinitely. It's to use our time well and help you make meaningful progress toward the things you want and need your body to do.

Virtual: Available when appropriate for patients physically located in MA or CT
Purchase by October 31 • 90 days to use your initial appointmentYou don't need to know what every letter after my name means. What matters is the level of evaluation, clinical reasoning and hands-on skill that training allows me to bring to your care.
After earning my Doctor of Physical Therapy degree, I completed advanced post-professional residency and fellowship training in orthopedic manual physical therapy.
That training deepened how I evaluate complex orthopedic problems, determine which joints and tissues need treatment, recognize movement and compensation patterns, choose and perform highly specific manual techniques, and continually reassess whether what we're doing is creating the change we're looking for.
I look at the area that's bothering you, how it functions, and how the rest of your body is influencing the problem so we can understand what is contributing.
I have an extensive range of manual techniques to draw from, allowing the hands-on treatment to be selected and adapted to what your joints and tissues need.
Treatment decisions are based on what I find and how your body responds, allowing me to continually reassess and determine what needs attention next.
Advanced training is only part of the picture.
I also bring more than 20 years of healthcare experience and years of treating orthopedic conditions across a wide range of people — from everyday aches, injuries and chronic problems to active adults and high-level athletes.
Pain and orthopedic injuries are only part of what physical therapy can address. I work with people who want to improve how their body moves, functions, recovers and performs across a wide range of needs.
You're dealing with a new injury, pain or movement problem and want a thorough evaluation and individualized treatment.
You've been dealing with chronic or recurring pain, stiffness or limitations that continue to affect what you can do.
You're experiencing weakness, balance problems, difficulty walking or changes in how your body moves and functions.
You're dealing with headaches, migraines, dizziness or related symptoms and want to evaluate whether the neck, movement, balance or musculoskeletal system is contributing.
You want to return to work, exercise, running, sport or everyday activities and improve how your body functions while doing them.
You're already active, strong or athletic but something still feels restricted, painful, weak or isn't performing the way you want it to.
You've tried other care and want a fresh evaluation and a different perspective on what's contributing to the problem.
Physical therapy can address more than pain or orthopedic injuries. Whether you're recovering from an injury, dealing with headaches or dizziness, rebuilding strength, balance or movement, managing a longstanding problem or trying to perform at a higher level, we look at how your body is moving and functioning, identify what physical therapy can address, and build your treatment from there.
These appointments are specifically for physical therapy. My broader practice also includes holistic and integrative health work, but nutrition, functional medicine, lab review and investigation of broader health concerns are not included in your physical therapy appointment.
Your first appointment gives us time to understand what's going on, evaluate how your body is moving and functioning, begin treatment, and determine what makes sense from there.
Purchase your 60-minute Initial Evaluation + Treatment for the October special rate of $147, regularly $250.
After purchase, you'll receive your intake information and scheduling instructions. You'll share your preferred location and a few days and times that work for you, and we'll coordinate your appointment individually.
We'll evaluate what's contributing to the problem and begin treatment during your first visit. From there, we'll determine what your body needs next.
I don't ask you to purchase a package of care before I've evaluated you. If you complete your initial evaluation during October and we determine that continued physical therapy is appropriate, you'll have the option to purchase three 60-minute follow-up sessions for $300 — regularly $450.
The follow-up package is available only after your initial evaluation, when continued physical therapy is appropriate, and must be purchased by October 31. You'll have one year from purchase to use all three follow-up sessions.

Here are the practical details to know before purchasing your first visit.
This is a private-pay physical therapy service, so I do not bill insurance directly. Payment is made at the time of service.
If your insurance plan includes out-of-network physical therapy benefits, I can provide you with a superbill that you can submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement.
Coverage and reimbursement vary by plan, so you are responsible for checking your individual out-of-network benefits, deductible, reimbursement rates and any referral or documentation requirements. A superbill does not guarantee reimbursement.
Massachusetts and Connecticut allow direct access to physical therapy, so you do not generally need a physician referral to be evaluated and treated, subject to applicable state requirements.
Your individual insurance plan, out-of-network benefits, or HSA/FSA administrator may still require a referral or other documentation for reimbursement or use of those benefits. You are responsible for confirming the requirements of your individual plan.
Physical therapy expenses may be eligible for HSA or FSA funds depending on your individual plan. I can provide a superbill for your records, but your plan may require a physician referral or other documentation. Please check directly with your HSA/FSA administrator to confirm eligibility and any requirements for your plan.
Physical therapists cannot opt out of Medicare and privately contract with Medicare beneficiaries for physical therapy services that are covered by Medicare. If you have Medicare, please contact me before purchasing so we can determine whether this private-pay service is appropriate for your situation.
No. Your initial visit includes a detailed physical therapy evaluation. We'll look at your history, symptoms, movement, mobility, strength and function to determine what is contributing to the problem and whether physical therapy is appropriate for you.
No. We'll start with your evaluation and treatment, see what I find and how your body responds, and determine what makes sense from there. If continued physical therapy is appropriate, we'll discuss your options after your evaluation.
Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move and gives access to the area we'll be evaluating when possible. If you have relevant imaging reports, medical records or other information related to the problem, you're welcome to bring them with you.
In-person appointments are available in Agawam, Massachusetts and Farmington, Connecticut. Availability varies by location, so after purchasing you'll send your preferred location and a few days and times that work for you. We'll coordinate your appointment based on your preferences and availability.
Yes. If you live outside Massachusetts or Connecticut, you can travel to see me for an in-person appointment at either my Agawam, Massachusetts or Farmington, Connecticut location.
Virtual physical therapy is also available when appropriate if you are physically located in Massachusetts or Connecticut at the time of your telehealth appointment. Physical therapy licensure is based on where the patient is physically located during the visit, so I cannot provide virtual physical therapy while you are located in a state where I am not licensed.
Part of a thorough physical therapy evaluation is determining whether what you're experiencing is appropriate for physical therapy. If I identify something that needs evaluation or care outside of my physical therapy scope, I'll let you know and recommend the appropriate next step.
Whether you're dealing with pain, weakness, stiffness, headaches, dizziness, a movement problem, an injury that hasn't fully resolved, or simply a body that isn't functioning the way you want it to, we'll start by looking at the whole picture.
Your 60-minute initial visit includes both a detailed physical therapy evaluation and treatment, so we can begin addressing what we find from your very first appointment.
